Little Helpers/Good Manners Letter: S Number: 60-70

Announcements:

  • Thank you to everyone who brought toilet paper rolls.  We had plenty to do our craft.
  • Next week is spring break so there will be no classes next week
  • Tuesday the 4-5 year olds will have a field trip to Lowe’s!  Be sure to wear your school t-shirts, and bring a car seat/booster.  **The morning class is meeting here at 9:00 am. Afternoon class is the same time. Lowes will be giving a store tour and doing a craft with us.  All parents are welcomed to come.  The more parents there to help with the craft would be helpful.  This trip will take up most of the time we have for preschool with travel time.  This is one of the kids favorite field trips of the year.
  • I ordered the scholastic books on Saturday and it is expected to get here in 5-7 days.  I will let you know and put them in a box or brown bag and give them directly to you, so they can be kept secret just in case you are giving them as gifts.

Home Challenge:  Count everything this week.  How many plates are on the table?  How many forks are in our drawer?  How many carrots do you want for lunch?  How many red cars can we count on the way to the store?  We have learned all the numbers from 1-40 and this week we are working on numbers 40-50.  Identifying a number is much different then counting how many you have of something.  One of my favorite toys to play with my kids is the abacus.  It’s basically a bead counter or a manual calculator.  In preschool we have been using it to help count by 10’s.  At home I use it all the time to help with math homework and to help us count how many time they practice a spot in music practicing.  It may be a great investment to buy one.  Here is an example of one you can get.
